The GDPR and your Information.

On the 25t of May 2018 the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) replaces the current Data Protection Act of 1995 Data Protection Directive (Directive 95/46/EC). The GDPR was proposed by the European Commission and is designed to strengthen data protection for people in the European Union (EU). It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU.

The new regulations give individuals greater rights over information that is collected about them. If you are interested in knowing more about your rights under the GDPR then the Information Comissionors Office (ICO) website explains all about the GDPR. You can access the ICO guide to the GDPR by clicking on the following link – Guide to the GDPR

As a brief summary, the GDPR gives individuals new and enhanced rights over their personal data. Some of the rights highlighted in the regulation are:

Explicit consent: Data subjects (you) must be informed about how their personal data will be processed. Organizations must make it as easy for data subjects to withdraw their consent as it is to grant it.

Right to access: At any point in time, the data subject (you) can ask the controller (me) what personal data is being stored or retained about him/her.

Right to be forgotten: The data subject can request the controller to remove their personal information from the controller’s systems.

How Long We Hold Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
